Did you know? Wardown Park used to be the estate of London Brick Magnate Halley Stewart and was bought by the council in 1904 for £16 250. The lake itself was used to test special amphibian Bedford trucks during the war! |

Luton has two main parkland areas: Wardown park and Stockwood park. Wardown park is a Victorian park that has the Lea river running through. It is a small quaint park where you can spend a relaxing time watching the birdlife on the river or just reading a book in the sunshine.
Stockwood park is a vast open area where many events are held like circuses and fun fairs.
Both Luton Parks have a museum, Wardown has the gallery and Stockwood parks has a transport and garden museum, (see the museum section for details.)
Stockwood Park also offers a huge range of sporting opportunities from Rugby, Athletics, Golf, Football and even horse riding!
