| Harpenden
Harpenden has been a rural village for hundreds of years. The name Harpenden means "Valley of the Nightingales". Today it is a pleasant town with a population of about 30 000. Harpenden provides an alternative shopping, pub and restaurant experience that is very close to Luton (just 7 minutes by Thameslink). Vast greens are ideal for summer walks and the historic houses and churches are worth a visit.
